In Ron Shevlin’s regular Forbes column he takes a look at the big issues that will shape fintech in the 2020s; branch banking will continue to be a hot topic as more banks close underperforming branches that may result in a disparate economic impact, one that fintech lenders are trying to mitigate; whether or not (and how) to regulate AI-based banking activity may well be the topic of the decade as the use of AI becomes more widespread; the privacy and security concerns over the use of data will likely become more urgent as well as more complex in the coming decade; the debate around cryptocurrencies replacing fiat currencies will continue with two different use cases likely dominating the conversation: payments and international remittances;  will China, with its super-apps like WeChat and a social credit system, lead the West down a similar road? This could be the biggest debate of all for the 2020s. Source
