PayPal Sees a Big Opportunity in India
PayPal is now beginning to expand their presence in India as they see a big opportunity with the country’s 450 million mobile phone users; “India is critically important,” said Sri Shivananda, chief technology officer at PayPal, to the FT. “We look at regions and then there are countries of importance . . . India currently is an area of focus.”; the company is increasing their employee count, making strategic investments and keeping an eye out for acquisition targets; they have also recently trialed a one touch payment solution that makes it easier for consumers to complete a payment without multiple authentication which has turned off a lot of consumers; India has become a global battleground for payments and investors as they look to gain market share amongst a growing consumer base.
